                                                                  ORDER

1. Heard on the question of admission and interim relief. 2 . The instant writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India has been filed by the petitioner seeking a direction for police protection. Except for stating that the petitioners have solemnized their marriage, nothing has been placed on record to contend that whether the petitioners have ever approached the police authorities. There is not even an

averments in the writ petition to show that the petitioners have made any effort to approach the police authorities for ventilation of their grievance.

3 . In view of the above, no case for issuance of any direction to the police authorities against the respondent No.5 is made out.

4 . The judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Lata Singh Vs. State of U.P. and Another , reported in 2006 (5) SCC 475 , relied

2 WP-43314-2025 upon by the petitioners, is of no consequence as, in the peculiar facts of that case, the Hon'ble Supreme Court, on the factum of registration of false criminal case lodged against them, directed the police authorities to provide protection and institute criminal proceedings against the culprits. However, none of the aforesaid facts are available in the petitioners' case. In fact, there is no material on record to indicate that the petitioners have ever been threatened by the respondent No. 5. The petition appears to have been filed merely on the basis of apprehensions, without any supporting factual foundation.

5 . In case the petitioners approach the police authorities alongwith a copy of this order passed today and a copy of the writ petition, the police authorities shall look into the complaint filed by the petitioners and deal with

it in accordance with law.

6 . With the aforesaid liberty, the instant writ petition filed by the petitioners stands disposed of.
