G.S.R. 469(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (i) of Section 21 read with Section 7 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely :-

  1. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage of Bi-Metallic Coin of Rupees Ten Coined with the theme "Connectivity and Information Technology" Rules, 2007.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

  1. Definition.- In these rules, "Act" means the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906).
  2. Standard weight and remedy allowed on coins of certain denominations coined with the theme "Connectivity and Information Technology".- The standard weight of the Bi-Metallic Coin of Rupees Ten denomination, coined under the provisions of Section 6 of the Act, and the remedy allowed in making such coins shall be as specified in the Table below:

Ten Rupees (Bi-metallic) 7.71 Grams (Outer Ring 4.45 grams and Center piece 3.26 grams.) Outer Ring (Aluminium Bronze) Aluminium - 5.5% to 6%, Nickel - 1.75% to 2% and remainder are Copper. Center Piece (Cupro-Nickel) plus of minus 1% for both Copper and Nickel, that is to say the Copper may vary from 74% to 76% and Nickel from 24% to 26%. Plus or minus 2.5% that is to say, weight could vary from 7.52 grams to 7.90 grams.
