Recently, the satirical political outfit “Cockroach Janta Party” (CJP) gained significant attention online after its Instagram accounts reportedly crossed 10 million followers, surpassing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s presence on the platform. The development comes amid widespread reactions over remarks made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant concerning unemployed youth, which had sparked intense debate across social media.

The “Cockroach Janta Party” emerged shortly after controversy arose over remarks comparing some unemployed youth to “cockroaches” and “parasites.” Presenting itself as the “Voice of the Lazy & Unemployed,” the group was launched on May 16 by Abhijeet Dipke and rapidly gained traction through satire and online political commentary.

Reports further stated that the X (formerly Twitter) account associated with the organisation was withheld in India. Amid the growing attention surrounding the group, at least three trademark applications were filed seeking registration of the name “Cockroach Janta Party.”

According to entries available with the Trade Marks Registry, separate applications were submitted by individuals Azim Adambhai Jam, Akahnd Swaroop, and a proprietorship linked to Dipke’s Cockroach Janta Party. The trademark applications were reportedly filed under Class 45, which relates to legal, security, and social services.

The rapid rise of the satirical outfit triggered discussions online around political satire, free speech, and public criticism in response to judicial remarks. The organisation also drew additional attention after several public figures and political personalities were reportedly linked to or reacted to the movement on social media.

Founder Abhijeet Dipke reportedly stated that the initiative initially began as a joke but gradually evolved into a larger online movement due to increasing public engagement and viral social media activity.

No official judicial or administrative decision has been reported so far regarding the trademark applications or the functioning of the organisation.
