In its meeting held on 24-02-2020, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of Acting Chief Justice BP Dharmadhikari as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
Justice BP Dharmadhikari, who is the second Senior-most Judge in Bombay High Court is due to retire in April this year.
In the last series of events, Justice BP Dharmadhikari was appointed as Acting Chief Justice post the retirement of Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog on Collegium's recommendation.
Justice SC Dharmadhikari had informed the media that he is tendering his resignation as he wished to remain in Bombay, rather than be transferred as the Chief Justice of another state. His tenure as a High Court Judge is in his last two years.
The Bombay High Court seems a bit chaotic these days as, one more Judge, Justice Ranjit V More, who follows in seniority after Justice BP Dharmadhikari, can be seen unhappy with the Collegium's recent proposal to transfer him to the Meghalaya High Court and may soon leave the Bombay High Court.
