A 45-year-old lawyer from Wadala, Mumbai has been arrested by Police, two days after his bike hit a seven-year-old girl, killing her.
Accident took place when the victim, Afreen Rabadi, stepped out of her building to go to a park in the neighbourhood. Her mother was a few steps behind her.
Accused, Dipesh Muni, was speeding and could not brake in time when the girl appeared in front of his motorcycle and hit her.
Dipesh Muni waited while residents gave girl water and later he accompanied the girl to a clinic in the neighbourhood.
But at night, she started to vomit continuously. Girl's parents rushed her to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries early on Sunday.
After Afreen's death, Police took her parents' statement and registered a case against Muni under Sections 304 (A) and 279 of the Indian Penal Code for rash driving and causing death due to negligence, besides provisions of Motor Vehicles Act. Muni was taken into custody on Monday.
