Justice Mukul Mudgal, who had headed the IPL Spot-Fixing probe is appointed as Deputy Chairman of FIFA Governance Committee.
Indian football and Judiciary saw a major Development, world Football governing body FIFA has appointed Justice Mukul Mudgal, as deputy chairman of its governance committee.
Justice Mudgal is former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana and he had headed the IPL spot-fixing probe.
Justice Mudgal told PTI,“I have seen the News on the website. But I am yet to receive any official confirmation. I feel honoured for this assignment as it is a big thing for Judiciary in India.”
J.Mudgal, who is also overseeing the International cricket matches and IPL games at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium here, hinted that he would indeed take up the offer.
J.Mudgal’s current assignment with the Delhi and District Cricket Association gets over after the second qualifier scheduled on May 27.
Recently, J. Mudgal was roped in by the Asian Football Federation in a similar assignment.
FIFA’s governance committee will be headed by Portuguese Luis Miguel Maduro, who is a former European Court of Justice Advocate General.
Both J.Mudgal and Maduro will together also head FIFA’s International Review Committee, which will assess all major decisions of FIFA.
