The Uttarakhand State was carved out from the State of Uttar Pradesh on 9 November 2000 under the Uttar Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2000. At the time of the creation of the State, the High Court of Uttarakhand was also established on the same day at Nainital. The sanctioned judge strength at the time of creation in 2000 was 7; this was increased to 9 in 2003.
High Court of Uttarakhand has released a notification regarding the hiring of eligible candidates for Junior Assistant and Stenographer positions through direct recruitment basis. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released 54 vacant posts of Junior Assistant and 80 vacant posts of Stenographer/ Personal Assistant in Civil Courts subordinate to the Honorable High Court, Nainital, Uttarakhand, and 03 vacant posts of Junior Assistant and 02 vacant posts of Stenographer/ Personal Assistant in Family Courts.
