July 25,2016:

Justice Muralidharan enunciated that,"If people feel it is difficult to sing the song in Bengali or in Sanskrit, steps can be taken to translate song in Tamil."

On Tuesday, Justice M V Muralidharan, Judge of Madras HC has expounded that,"Singing of Vande Mataram in the Schools, Government Offices, Private Entities and the Industries in Tamil Nadu should be compulsory. While Schools must sing it at least once a week either on Monday or Friday while National song must be crooned in the offices once a month.

HC Judge clarified that in the event, any person/organisation has difficulty in singing or playing song, they shall not be compelled or forced to sing it, provided there are some valid reasons for not doing so.

Issue pertains to the plea moved by K Veeramani, who failed to clear the written test for post of BT Assistant as he answered that song was written in Bengali.

Opposing his submission, Government Pleader contended that song was originally written in Sanskrit and was translated later in Bengali later.

To clear ambiguity, HC Judge directed Advocate General to find out the right answer. On July 13, When plea came up for hearing  AG clarified that original language of 'Vande Mataram' was Sanskrit but written in Bengali script.

High Court has stated that Government must include Veeramani in Teacher Selection Process.
