About the Job Opportunity

Applications in the prescribed proforma (as per Annexure I of the official notification) are invited from eligible candidates for filling up one post of Consultant on a contractual basis in the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee, as per the details below.

Role and Responsibilities

• Share some burden of the staff of the SCLSC and also conduct independent research and prepare documentation.
• Suggest remedial steps (if any) and identify positive actions taken (if any) so that a series of best practices are evolved over the years in the field of legal aid.
• Discuss each case with the potential litigant and prepare a brief wherever necessary so that the panel lawyer can draft the SLP or petition as the case may be.
• Follow up the cases with the panel lawyer, be in contact with the under-trial prisoner or convict either through video-conference or otherwise.
• The Consultant will need to assist the senior counsel.
• There will be additional and miscellaneous administrative duties that the consultant will be required to perform, such as organizing seminars and group discussions with experts on the subject of legal aid and advice and prison reforms etc. The candidate would be required to discharge such additional duties as directed by Secretary, SCLSC.

Eligibility

• Law graduate from any University/Collgfe/Institution established by law in India and recognized by the Bar Council of India
• Knowledge of computer including retrieval of desired information from various search engines/processes like SCC, Manupatra, Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, etc.
• Experience: 1 year as an Advocate
• Candidate should not be above 25 years of age on the closing date of the application.

Remuneration

Rs. 40,000 per month

Duration of Engagement

Initially 1 year
