In the breaking news last week, Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan (LKS) Partner Ashwin Mathew, who had the firm in Dec 2019 from Mansukhlal Hiralal, will be going independent.
On his this decision, he said:
“My future plans are to work independently and to address any opportunities that come my way, despite my faults.”
The 1998 NLSIU Bangalore graduate with a 2007 University of Cambridge LLM had previously also worked at Khaitan & Co and the erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas.
Mathew had written in a post on Linked-in yesterday evening:
The firm commented: “We wish him well and thank him for his contribution in the months he has been with us.”
Other Partners to have left LKS Corporate practice in the last year include:
- Shafaq Sapre, who had joined J Sagar Associates (JSA) yesterday,
- Vikas Kumar started LexRidge in August 2019 with ex-HSA managing partner Amitabh Sharma and AZB & Partners senior lawyer Naved Askari, and
- in July 2019, London corporate partner Sumesh Sawhney left to join Essar as group GC.
