August,2,2016:
BCCI begins the process of implementation of SC Judgment of J. Lodha Report.
Retired Chief Justice of India, Markandey Katju, will soon done a new Hat.
He is slated to now head a panel that will advice and guide the Board of control for cricket in India (BCCI) during the implementations of Lodha panel recommendations approved by Supreme Court.
Working Committee of BCCI met today at the Cricket Center in Mumbai and took a decision to implement the recent landmark judgement delivered by the Supreme Court of India on reforms.
Some Members found that the Lodha panel implementations were complex in nature and the Board would need time to implement them.
Members decided that a panel headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court duly assisted by three other counsels including Abhinav Mukerjee and the counsel of BCCI be formed for the purpose.
Working Committee found that the Lodha Panel recommendations “would involve large-scale structural changes in BCCI”.
It felt that many legal and technical aspects would come up in the future.
Considering the overall complexities of the subject and the task at hand, it was unanimously decided that the new panel will be the single point interface for the BCCI to interact with the Justice Lodha Committee as well advise and guide the BCCI.
The BCCI Working Committee also “unanimously” decided that retired Justice Markandey Katju would be a suitable choice to head the implementation panel for BCCI.
