February,4,2016: The Supreme Court on Thursday told the BCCI it has to accept retired Chief Justice RM Lodha’s report to reform Indian cricket and it “won’t get a second innings” to do this.

The court gave the board time till March 3 to “mull over the report” but warned that there was no “rationale not to accept it.”

“There is no second innings–it’s all over,” said the court.

The panel headed by retired chief justice Lodha was appointed by the apex court in 2015 in the wake of a sport-fixing scandal in Indian Premier League (IPL), the biggest crisis to hit the cash-rich sports body in the country.

In January, the committee recommended barring ministers and government officials from holding office in the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India )and legalising betting in sweeping measures to clean up the scandal-ridden sports body.

Earlier, not quite convinced about some recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee report on reforms in the BCCI, the Mumbai Cricket Association office- bearers will discuss its implications in a meeting here tomorrow.

“Mr Sharad Pawar (MCA President) has convened a meeting of the office-bearers tomorrow to discuss the Lodha panel recommendations.

The points discussed would be put before the managing committee members for their views. Then a meeting with all the clubs affiliated to the MCA would be convened next month,” an MCA source told PTI today. The MCA’s AGM, convened on January 22, had not discussed the Lodha panel recommendations.

Also, there was no discussion on the sweeping reforms recommended by the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Lodha Committee at the AGM of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), headed by Sharad Pawar. “Nothing on Lodha Committee’s recommendations has been discussed in the AGM. We discussed them in our Managing Committee.

We gave point-wise answer and our recommendations will be sent to BCCI. We are waiting for their communication,” MCA Vice-President Ashish Shelar told reporters after the AGM.
