The Bombay High Court on Thursday issued the sitting list for its newly constituted circuit bench at Kolhapur, which will begin functioning from August 18 with one division bench and two single-judge benches.
The division bench, comprising Justice M.S. Karnik (presently at the principal seat in Mumbai) and Justice Sharmila Deshmukh, will hear Public Interest Litigations, civil writ petitions, first appeals, family court appeals, contempt appeals, and other civil and criminal matters within the division bench’s jurisdiction from the districts of Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg.
The single bench of Justice Shivkumar Dige will handle criminal appeals, criminal revision applications, bail pleas, and other criminal matters assigned to a single judge. The single bench of Justice S.G. Chapalgaonkar will hear civil writ petitions, civil applications, and other civil matters falling under a single judge’s jurisdiction.
The Kolhapur circuit bench will be formally inaugurated by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud on August 17 at 3:30 PM.
