Date : 25.07.2022 Heard Mr. UK Barman, learned counsel appearing for the appellant and Mr. M.P. Goswami, learned Addl. Public Prosecutor, Assam appearing for the State Page No.# 2/2

respondent.

This appeal is directed against the judgment and order dated 16.03.2022, passed by the learned Sessions Judge, Karbi Anglong, Diphu in Sessions Case No. 249/2017 (New) convicting the appellant namely Sri Jakub Bhengra under Sections 498A/ 306 IPC and sentencing him to undergo R.I. for a period of 10 (ten) years and a fine of Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees five thousand only) and in default to undergo R.I for 1 (one) year and further sentenced to undergo R.I. for a period of 3 (three) years under Section 498A IPC and a fine of Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees five thousand only) and in default to undergo R.I. for 1 (one) year and providing that the punishment shall run concurrently.

The appeal is admitted for hearing.

No formal notice is required to be sent to the respondent No. 1 who is represented by the learned Addl. Public Prosecutor.

Steps be taken within two days on the respondent No. 2 by registered post with A/D and in addition to that, the appellant shall take steps on the respondent No. 2 by usual service through the jurisdictional Magistrate as per Gauhati High Court Rules with suitable modification to the form.
