About Multiple Action Research Group (MARG)
Multiple Action Research Group (MARG) is a Delhi-based Non-Government Organization (NGO). For over 39 years MARG has been working for the legal empowerment of the vulnerable and the marginalised segments of the society, particularly women, children, scheduled castes, and scheduled tribes, through legal literacy trainings, workshops and the development of legal training tools.
Through legal awareness it promotes active citizenry education, conducts socio-legal research, undertakes advocacy initiatives, and provides legal aid. MARG has worked both at the mass level as well as policy development level through its core team of experienced and committed lawyers, researchers, and trainers. MARG is a pioneer in the production of innovative legal training materials and advocacy tools.
To effect policy changes, MARG has actively participated and contributed to law reform initiatives of the Law Commission, National Commission for Women and civil society networks, particularly on issues relating to displacement, rehabilitation and violence against women. About the Position
MARG, a Delhi-based NGO, working for over 39 years in the field of legal literacy and awareness, is looking for an Executive Director.
Applications are invited from persons with 15 or more years of experience in the development world, with an LL.B/Post Graduate and having spent at least five years in senior management position.
This is a full-time organisational leadership role with the objective of providing supervisory oversight, strategic advice and technical support, with overall responsibility for programme planning and implementation, policy-advocacy, and fundraising.
The ED will lead a team to advance knowledge of citizen’s rights and work to promote a culture of rights and remedies within state bureaucracies through interactions, publications, grassroots and policy interventions and campaigns that reach mass audiences.
The role requires close collaboration with the Chairperson and other members of the Executive Council of MARG.
Specific Tasks Include
- Take forward the objectives of MARG, as well as strategic planning for the growth of the organisation to make it relevant to the changing external policy environment.
- Provide supervisory oversight, strategic advice and support to the team in the implementation of the programs and projects and ensure activities are efficiently coordinated across the organisation.
- Monitor and evaluate programme deliverables vis-à-vis the annual plan and provide technical support on improvement on monitoring systems and internal processes.
- Ensure adequate funds are available on an ongoing basis for core functions and programme activities. This will also include tracking potential funding opportunities and assess their suitability for MARG and contributing to project design and preparing grant proposals and related budgets or other supporting documents for fundraising proposals/bids as necessary.
- Spearhead the annual plans and budget processes of MARG, and build robust and healthy financial systems and practices.
- Guide research and policy analysis on different issues arising out of the work of MARG.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least 15 or more years of experience in the development world,
- LL.B/Post Graduate
- At least five years in senior management position.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively organisations and stakeholders on the ground
- Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate a diverse team in a multicultural environment
- Exposure to and understanding of budgeting and financial management, as well as HR
- Experience raising funds and working collaboratively with donors
- Ability to represent MARG effectively in various forum
- Willingness to travel outside Delhi to project sites.
- Strong and gender-sensitive interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The position is offered on a three-year basis and renewable thereafter by mutual agreement.
