The Electricity Act 2003 was enacted by the Government of India to consolidate the laws relating to the use of electricity and generally for taking measures conducive to the development of the electricity industry. Under the Act, the Central Electricity Authority, the Regulatory Commissions and the Appellate Tribunal were also established.
