NLSIU & Law Department of Meghalaya invites applications for P. A. Sangma Fellowship for Legal and Policy Research 2024. The last date of application is June 15.
NLSIU invites applications for six (06) Research Fellow positions under the ‘P. A. Sangma Fellowship for Legal and Policy Research’. It is a Fellowship (12 months – extendable), based out of Meghalaya. These positions are under the MoU between the Department of Law, Government of Meghalaya and the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore.
The P. A. Sangma Fellowship for Legal and Policy Research is a research fellowship offered by the Government of Meghalaya exclusively for graduates of NLSIU. The Fellowship looks to expose students to the complex social and economic challenges of Meghalaya, a Sixth Schedule State, and generate interventions after analysing legal and policy frameworks in collaboration with senior policymakers of the Government.
The University signed an MoU with the Department of Law, Government of Meghalaya on April 04, 2022, to jointly offer this Fellowship for Legal and Policy Research. The Fellowship is named after the former Chief Minister of Meghalaya and Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shri. P. A. Sangma.
The Fellowship is open to two categories of students: 1) NLSIU students who have graduated in the B.A. LL.B (Hons.), LL.M. and M.P.P. courses, 2) domicile citizens of Meghalaya with law degrees from any universities. Read more about the MoU here.
This is the fourth cohort of the Research Fellows (2024). These are full-time positions, based out of Meghalaya. These Research Fellows will be mentored, jointly by Nodal Officers of the Government of Meghalaya and NLSIU. The start date of the Fellowship is the first week of July 2024.

Eligible and shortlisted candidates will be interviewed. Upon selection, the Government of Meghalaya will provide the terms of reference for the Fellowship.
The last date for submission of applications is June 15, 2024 | 5 pm.
Research Fellows will be eligible to receive a monthly stipend of Rupees Sixty Thousand (INR 60,000 per month) as well as a monthly house rent allowance of Rupees Ten Thousand (INR 10,000 per month).
