Project Beyond the Boundaries

Organized for the first time in Sri Lanka and in the Leostic history of the University of Colombo, this project can be introduced as a step towards the development of Sri Lanka in a new direction.

Due to the practical and urgent need contemporarily existing in Sri Lanka, it is expected to hold an unprecedented scholarly discussion with the views of local and international experts and be
implemented as a small step towards the future development of Sri Lanka, without limiting the theme of 'Beyond the Boundaries' to a mere dialogue.

Sri Lanka has been recognized as a third world developing country for many years while the world move forwards in every aspect including economic, social, legal and attitudinal. The development achieved by the countries such as Singapore, Vietnam and Bangladesh surpassing

Sri Lanka towards developed countries is an example of Sri Lanka's developmental backwardness.

Hence, why can't Sri Lanka move forward with the world? Is it a policy issue in Sri Lanka? Are there solutions to those problems? If there are solutions, the question arises as to whether Sri
Lanka can implement them and move in unison with the international community.

Therefore, through this project, a dialogue and debate will be held with the involvement of local and international scholars to address the above issues and analyze the international efforts taken by the developed countries and the strategies that can be used to move our country towards development.

This panel discussion is primarily aimed at undergraduates in all universities across Sri Lanka and socializing the ideas through them. It is hoped that this will lead to future success here by targeting those who are to become the future leaders of the country. It also focuses on their voices and the problems they face in improving the future of the country and nurtures their knowledge and attitudes. In addition, the public will be given the opportunity to participate in this discussion through social media such as television and newspaper advertisements. It also aids the country's policy makers by revealing a new vision of development through this small effort, as if a few small raindrops combine to create a big rain.

The project is planned to be implemented in three phases. Organizing a scholarly discussion on this theme in the first phase Create an e-magazine related to this theme in the second phase

E-magazine, designed as the second phase, is expected to be handed over to the policy makers of the country.

Phase 1

A panel discussion consisting of Sri Lankan and international experts will be held to achieve the desired objectives of this project. It is hoped to organize a panel discussion consisting of 3 Sri
Lankan scholars and 2 international scholars with a total of 5 scholars in 2 hours using zoom platform.

As a benefiting community, undergraduates in all universities in Sri Lanka are given priority and it is planned to provide continuous advertisements to them through the university coordinators appointed in each university.

In addition, this panel discussion will be socialized through TV advertisements, newspaper articles and social media to facilitate anyone interested in the field to join the scholarly discussion via zoom and Facebook live and ask them direct questions from the experts. To make this virtual platform more user friendly, it is expected to add a video to suit the title and moderate in both Sinhala and English languages. During the program, the unique opinions of the scholars discussed will be shared among the community as live updates through the social networks of WhatsApp and Facebook. At the end of the program, a certificate will be issued to the participants.

Phase 2

A bilingual article writing competition on 'How Sri Lanka has become a country in conflict with the international community and how Sri Lanka can move towards international development will be organized where the best articles that show a successful vision for development will be appreciated. The competition will take about a month to complete, and the wining articles, best articles from the participants, and articles summarizing the knowledge gained from the expert discussion in phase one will be combined to create an e-magazine. In addition, the best articles will be published daily on the Facebook page created for the project.

Phase 3

The e-magazine created in phase two as the final phase of the project 'Beyond the Boundaries' will be handed over to the policy makers in Sri Lanka. This e-magazine, which embodies the
essence of scholarly discussions and the views of the community, is presented to policy makers, presenting project-oriented development concepts to them in a practical manner and promoting Sri Lanka internationally.
