Coinage of Fifty Rupees and Five Rupees Coins to Commemorate the Occasion of "Golden Jubilee of Indo Pak War 1965" Rules, 2015

G.S.R. 667(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of Section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:-

  1. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage of Fifty Rupees and Five Rupees Coins to Commemorate the Occasion of "Golden Jubilee of Indo Pak War 1965"Rules, 2015.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

  1. Denomination of coins.- The coins of the following denominations shall be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of "Golden Jubilee of Indo Pak War 1965", namely:-

(i) Fifty Rupees;

(ii) Five Rupees.

  1. Dimension and composition of coins.- The coins of the denominations mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimensions and composition, namely:-

Silver - 50 per cent.

Five Rupees Circular 23 millimetres 100 Zinc - 20 per cent.
Nickel - 05 per cent.
  1. Design.- The design of the coins shall be as under:-

(i) Fifty Rupees

Obverse:

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "lr;eso t;rs" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "Hkkjr" in Devnagri script and on the right periphery flanked with the word "India" in English and it shall also bear the Rupee symbol  and denominational value "50" in the international numerals below the Lion Capital.

Reverse:

The face of the coin shall bear the image of "Amar Jawan" monument along with the design of olive leaves branch on its left and right sides at the centre, with the inscription "ohjrk ,oa cfynku" in Devnagri Script on the left upper periphery and "Valour & Sacrifice" in English on the right upper periphery. The year "2015" shall be inscribed below the image of the monument. The inscription "1965 lkefjd vfHk;ku dk Lo.kZ t;arh o"kZ" in Devnagri script on the upper periphery and "Golden Jubilee 1965 Operations" in English on the lower periphery shall be written on this face of coin.

(ii) Five Rupees

Obverse:

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "lr;eso t;rs" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "Hkkjr" in Devnagri script and on the right periphery with the word "India" in English and it shall also bear the Rupee symbol  and denominational value "5" in the international numerals below the Lion Capital.

  1. Standard weight and remedy allowed.- The standard weight of the coins of the following denominations, coined to commemorate the occasion of "Golden Jubilee of Indo Pak War 1965"and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Table, below:-

Five Rupees 6 Grams 1/100th plus or minus for Copper and Zinc, that is to say, Copper could vary from 74 percent to 76 percent and Zinc from 19 per cent. to 21 per cent. and 1/200th plus or minus for Nickel, that is to say, Nickel could vary from 4.5 per cent. to 5.5 per cent. 1/40th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could be varying from 5.85 gram to 6.15 gram
