About the Scholarship

Bharti Infratel Scholarship Program was launched on March 9, 2016 Guwahati. Conceptualized by Bharti Infratel Ltd., one of the largest telecom tower infrastructure providers in India, the Program is being implemented by Shishu Sarothi (www.shishusarothi.org). 

With a vision of encouraging and helping students with disabilities of Northeast India to pursue higher education, this scholarship provides financial support towards academic fees to identified students with disabilities from the north-east region of India, i.e. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Sikkim, and Tripura, who are pursuing or wish to pursue higher education.

The scholarship encourages deserving students of North-East to pursue professional /technical education not only within the region, but in any part of the country and any recognized/affiliated educational institution.

Bharti Infratel Scholarship Program has supported 196 students across North-Eastern states and has awarded scholarship support of more than Rs. 45 Lakhs since its inception in 2016.

Eligibility

• CATEGORY-I: Students with disabilities, belonging to the North-Eastern states of India, i.e Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
  • Benchmark Disability, i.e 40% and above as per disability certificate
  • Pursuing higher education, i.e. 12th (Higher Secondary) /Graduation/ Post-Graduation /Professional
  • Basic Qualification: Class 10th/ Matriculation
  • Age: 14-29 years
• CATEGORY-II: Students with disabilities, who do not belong to the North-Eastern states of India but are studying in Institutes/Colleges recognized by Government of India as Institute of National Importance (INIs), located in the North-East.
  • Benchmark Disability, i.e 40% and above as per disability certificate
  • Pursuing higher education, i.e. Graduation/Post-Graduation/ Professional
  • Basic Qualification: Class 12th/Higher Secondary
  • Age: 17-29 years
