January, 24,2017:

Rs. 1.86 Crore 2G Scam and Rs. 29,000 Crore Coal Scam investigations were reportedly sabotaged by him.

Special Coal Bench of Supreme Court headed by Justice Madan B Lokur could not restraint itself from ordering a probe against former Central Bureau of Investigative (CBI) chief Ranjit Sinha when material of his being pally with prime Accused was shared with the Court.

This verdict is based on a report submitted by a special judicial panel formed under former CBI special director ML Sharma. As per report he allegedly misused his powers to influence the coal block allocation scam case and scuttled the probe.

A new Special Investigative Team (SIT) headed by newly appointed CBI Director Alok Verma will look into the charges.

RS Cheema, special public prosecutor will also assist the CBI Director and his team in the matter.

The task at hand is to inquire if the meetings that Sinha had with the accused impacted the investigations negatively.

The list of influential Accused includes Ex. PM Manmohan Singh, Naveen Jindal, Ex. Minister Subodh Kant Sahay, Vijay Darda and others.
