The Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai has recommended a series of judicial appointments and confirmations in five High Courts, approving the elevation of both members of the Bar and judicial officers.

The three-member collegium, comprising Chief Justice Gavai along with Justice Surya Kant and Justice Vikram Nath, adopted five separate resolutions earlier this week to formalize the recommendations.

In the Himachal Pradesh High Court, the collegium has endorsed the elevation of senior advocates Jiya Lal Bhardwaj and Romesh Verma as judges.

For the Karnataka High Court, three judicial officers, Geetha Kadaba Bharatharaja Setty, Muralidhara Pai Borkatte, and Tyagaraja Narayan Inavally, have been cleared for elevation. Additionally, Justice Kurubarahalli Venkataramareddy Aravind, presently serving as an additional judge, has been recommended for confirmation as a permanent judge of the Court.

In the Tripura High Court, the collegium has approved the confirmation of Justice Biswajit Palit as a permanent judge, upgrading his current position as an additional judge.

The Madras High Court is also set to see changes, with the collegium recommending the confirmation of Justices N. Senthilkumar and G. Arul Murugan as permanent judges. Both have been serving as additional judges.

These recommendations highlight the collegium’s continuing role in ensuring timely appointments and strengthening the judicial framework across multiple High Courts in the country.
