Training-cum-Senstization of Para Legal Volunteers for legal services according to modules of NALSA
The Bihar State Legal Services Authority (BSLSA), Patna has organized “Training-cum-Sensitization program” during 9th to 13th August, 2021 for Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). It has become very more important in this pandemic situation to impart training through virtual mode.
Therefore, this training-cum-sensitization program has been conducted through online mode (BSLSA Youtube Channel).
All the officers of BSLSA, Patna; Sri Om Prakash Sir (Former Member Secretary of BSLSA); Sri Ajay Kumar (Sr. State consultant in Directorate of Social Welfare and UNICEF), Sri Pankaj Pandey (Panel Advocate in BSLSA, Patna), Sri Girish Chandra Mishra (State Head in HelpAge India, Bihar & Jharkhand) have participated as resource person in this program.
Lectures of resource persons have been recorded in the premise of BSLSA, Patna and were uploaded on BSLSA YouTube channel according to the schedule of the program. The link of the channel was shared with respective DLSAs with a direction to ensure participation of all the PLVs of their respective districts.
This five day Training-cum-Sensitization program has been divided into 15 Lectures and each lecture dealt with NALSA Schemes and pertinent issues related to basics of legal system. The session dealt with subjects/ Schemes such as:
1. NALSA (Protection and Enforcement of Tribal Rights) Scheme, 2015
2. NALSA (Effective implementation of Poverty Alleviation Schemes) Scheme, 2015
3. Basic Structure of Constitution of India
4. Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 and role of PLVs.
5. Criminal Justice System in India and Plea Bargaining
6. Bihar Victim Compensation Scheme including compensation for victims of Acid Attack
7. Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act
8. NALSA (Legal Services to the Victim of Drug Abuse and Eradication of Drug Menace) Scheme, 2015
9. Tele Law Scheme and demo skit on Tele Law
10. NALSA (Legal Services to the Workers in the Unorganized Sector) Scheme, 2015
11. NALSA (Child Friendly Legal Services to Children and their Protection) Scheme, 2015
12. Family Law
13. NALSA (Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation) Scheme, 2015
14. Scheme for Legal Services to Disaster Victims through Legal Services Authorities.

Para Legal Volunteers work at community level for spreading legal literacy and awareness. This Training-cum-Sensitization program for PLVs has been conducted by BSLSA with a hope that it would serve as a laser beam for PLVs while working as a messenger of legal services institutions. This program has extensively covered almost all the subjects which will empower PLVs while working at the frontier of legal awareness campaign.
