A local Court in Colva has directed the Verna police to register a cognisable offence against the accused in an alleged stabbing case and investigate the matter.
Judicial magistrate first class Queency D’Silva also directed police to submit a compliance report within 40 days.
On May 5, 2021, Creson Joscyl Antao from Majorda had lodged a complaint with the Verna police stating that while travelling with his pregnant wife, one person opened the front door of his 4-wheeler while he had stopped at the railway crossing, & started abusing him using filthy language. The accused also stabbed him, Antao said
The Verna police referred him to the health centre, at Cansaulim, & after receiving the medical hurt certificate, registered a non-cognizable against the accused
In its order, the JMFC observed that “upon going through the complaint lodged, it appears that several cognizable offences have been made out. So also, from the perusal of the photographs, it appears prima-facie that there are/were bleeding injuries on the body of the complaint & further, the hurt certificate & discharge card confirm & support the complaint of the victim. Thus, it was the bounden duty of the Verna police & the South Goa superintendent of police to register an FIR on the basis of the complaint.”
