Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva officially assumed charge as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, following a formal oath-taking ceremony held at the Raj Bhawan.
The oath of office was administered by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel in a ceremonial event. Justice Sachdeva has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court since May and now becomes the 29th Chief Justice of the Court.
During the ceremony, the state's Chief Secretary read out the official notification issued by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, confirming Justice Sachdeva's appointment to the top judicial post in the state.
Justice Sachdeva, a native of Delhi, was born on December 26, 1964. He earned his undergraduate degree in Commerce (Honours) from Shri Ram College of Commerce in 1985, and later obtained his LL.B. from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University, in 1988. He began his legal practice the same year and was enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi on August 1, 1988.
His elevation to the position of Chief Justice marks a continuation of a distinguished judicial career spanning several decades.
