On Tuesday, Authorities in Bali arrested four individuals on drug-related charges, with all potentially facing the death penalty, according to Bali’s narcotics agency chief Rudy Ahmad Sudrajat. Two Thai nationals were apprehended at Bali’s international airport on September 3, in possession of methamphetamine, ecstasy, and MDMA, allegedly meant for two Indonesians who were also arrested.

Additionally, a Latvian and Swedish national, arrested in July, faces lengthy prison sentences for possession of hashish and marijuana. Indonesia enforces stringent drug laws, with numerous traffickers, including foreign nationals, on death row. The county’s last executions for drug offences were in 2016.
