The Supreme Court Collegium, recommended the elevation of Justice Manmohan, Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, to the Supreme Court. This decision considers his seniority and the need for a balanced representation of High Court judges in the apex court.

Justice Manmohan was appointed as a Judge of the Delhi High Court on March 13, 2008. On September 29, 2024, he assumed the position of Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. Currently, he ranks second in the combined all-India seniority list of High Court judges and is the senior-most judge of the Delhi High Court.

The Collegium noted that at present, the Supreme Court bench includes only one judge from the Delhi High Court. Considering this underrepresentation and Justice Manmohan's distinguished tenure and seniority, the Collegium deemed his elevation to the Supreme Court as appropriate.

The Collegium highlighted Justice Manmohan’s exemplary judicial career and his contributions to the judiciary. It unanimously concluded that his elevation would enhance the composition of the Supreme Court bench. Additionally, the Collegium underscored the importance of ensuring diverse representation from various High Courts in the apex court.

As a result, the Collegium unanimously recommended Justice Manmohan for appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India, emphasizing his merit, seniority, and the broader judicial requirements of the apex court.
