On Tuesday, the Centre appointed Advocate Jagdish Chandra and Advocate Jivesh Kumar Tiwari as Deputy Solicitors General of India for the Delhi High Court. Their appointment adds two law officers to represent the Union Government before the High Court for the next three years, subject to further directions.

The appointments were approved by the President through an order issued by the Judicial Section of the Department of Legal Affairs under the Ministry of Law and Justice. Both advocates have been appointed as Deputy Solicitors General of India with effect from June 22, 2026.

The official communication provides that their engagement will remain in force for three years from the date of the order, “or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
