2. Mr. Pradeep Hairiya, Standing Counsel for the State of Uttarakhand/ respondents.

3. Petitioners are serving as Survey Lekhpal and Survey Kanoongo in Survey Unit of Revenue Department. According to them, earlier, their status was equivalent to persons serving as Revenue Sub Inspector and Revenue Inspector, however, by a Government Order, issued on 19.03.2014, the parity in status has been disturbed.

4. Learned State Counsel, however, submits that Revenue Sub Inspector and Revenue Inspector are performing police duties in hill areas apart from other routine works of Revenue Department, therefore, their pay scale was revised, which has resulted in heart-burning to the petitioners.

5. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that Secretary, Board of Revenue, Uttarakhand has recommended case of the petitioners for pay parity on 23.07.2024, which is pending consideration before the State Government. He confines his prayer and submits that the Secretary, Revenue, Government of Uttarakhand be directed 2026:UHC:1476

to take decision on the pending recommendation.

6. Learned State Counsel assures that decision if not already taken, shall be taken by the Secretary, Revenue, as early as possible.

7. The writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of with a direction to Secretary, Department of Revenue, Government of Uttarakhand to take decision on the pending recommendation, referred to above, within six months from the date of presentation of certified copy of this order. Petitioners shall be at liberty to approach the appropriate forum, if the decision goes against them.
