                        JUDGMENT

Petitioners are members of weaker sections of society belonging to District Almora. They pursued B.Ed. course from different private colleges within State of Uttarakhand.

2. Grievance of the petitioners is that part of tuition fee payable to the concerned colleges for pursing B.Ed. course has been released to them; but, part of tuition fee has been withheld.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that, as per Government Policy, petitioners are entitled to full tuition fee and also the amount of scholarship. In paragraph no. 22 of the writ petition, there is an admission that most of the petitioners have been paid a sum of ` 14,950/-.

4. By means of this writ petition, petitioners have sought the following relief:

"(i) issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to pay the balance of tuition fees paid/to be paid by the petitioners to their respective colleges along with the sums of scholarship to the petitioners."

5. Having regard to the facts & circumstances of the case, the writ petition is disposed of with liberty to petitioners to submit a joint representation to District Social Welfare Officer, Almora, within ten days from today. If such representation is made within the stipulated period, the concerned Authority shall look into the matter and take appropriate decision, in accordance with law, within six weeks' from the date of receipt of representation alongwith certified copy of this order.

6. Let a certified copy of this order be issued within 24 hours.
