Heard Ms. R. Purkayastha, learned counsel for the

petitioner.

Ms. R. Purkayastha, learned counsel submits that initially

the petitioner joined in the service on 24.09.1997 as Female Sub-

Jailor and after pursuing a litigation bearing No. WP(C) 201 of 2015,

she was promoted to the post of Female Jailor vide order dated

04.10.2018 and now she is entitled to get promotion to the post of

Deputy Superintendent after completion of 5 (five) years of service

in the feeder post. When she was not given promotion to said post

of Deputy Superintendent, she filed WP(C) No.826 of 2024 and vide

judgment dated 07.01.2025, this Court directed respondent No.2

for considering her case for promotion to said post in accordance

with Rules but thereafter, her candidature has been rejected on the

ground that she is a female person and the post is required to be

manned by a male person. Being aggrieved thereby, she has filed

the writ petition.

Mr. K. De, learned Addl. G.A. has appeared for all the

respondents and waives service of notice upon them.

Mr. K. De, learned Addl. G.A. has sought for an

adjournment to submit counter affidavit.
