BEFORE HON'BLE THE CHIEF JUSTICE MR. M. SUNDAR (ORDER)
13.04.2026
Ms. Geetarani Waikhom, learned counsel representing Mr. S.
Gunabanta, learned counsel on record for election petitioner and Ms. L. Sillori,
learned counsel representing Mr. M. Gunedhor, learned counsel on record for
returned candidate are before this Court (physical Court).
Afore-referred learned counsel on both sides request for
adjournment citing personal inconvenience for arguing counsel on both sides.
Inter-alia owing to sub Section (6) of Section 86 of the
'Representation of the People Act , 1951' ('RP Act' for the sake of brevity), election
petitions should go on a today-to-day basis until conclusion.
However, in the case on hand, adjournment is sought on the ground
of personal inconvenience for arguing counsel on both sides i.e., election petitioner
and returned candidate.
To be noted, adjournment beyond the following working day has
become necessary owing to personal inconvenience for the counsel and the
request made in this regard.
In the light of the narrative thus far, let the captioned matter stand
over to 28.04.2026.
List on 28.04.2026.
CHIEF JUSTICE
Ab. Surjit
