This petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents more
particularly the 12th respondent to consider the petitioner’s representation
dated 06.03.2026 for granting permission and adequate police protection for
the petitioner, and the founder and state president Shir.Arjun Sampath along
with 24 members, Indu Makkal Katchi Tamilagam, the 135th Birth
Anniversary of Annal Dr.Ambedkar to garland the statue of Annal
Dr.Ambedkar situated at Ambedkar Memorial Hall, Raja Annamalaipuram,
Chennai-600 028 on 14.04.2026 between 4.00 p.m to 4.30 p.m.

2.The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that, the petitioner
is a practising Advocate, a social worker, and the President for Chennai North
Zone Advocates Wing of Indu Makkal Katchi (Tamilagam). It is submitted that,
on an earlier occasion, when members of the Indu Makkal Katchi (Tamilagam)
proceeded to the Dr.Ambedkar Memorial Hall, Raja Annamalaipuram,
Chennai-600 028, for the purpose of garlanding the statue of Dr.Ambedkar on
the occasion of his 130th birth anniversary, certain law and order issues arose.
Therefore, apprehending similar issues this year, the petitioner submitted a
representation dated 06.03.2026 to the respondents, seeking permission and
adequate police protection, to enable the petitioner, along with the Founder and
State President, Mr.Arjun Sampath, and 24 members of Indu Makkal Katchi
(Tamilagam), to garland the statue of Annal Dr.Ambedkar on the occasion of
his 135th birth anniversary, schedule to be held on 14.04.2026 between 4.00 p.m
and 4.30 p.m, at the Dr.Ambedkar Memorial Hall, Raja Annamalaipuram,
Chennai-600 028. However, no response was received. Hence the present writ
petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to provide
adequate police protection to the petitioner and other office bearers to garland
the statue of Dr.Ambedkar at the aforesaid venue.

3.The learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the
learned Additional Advocate General for the respondents 1 to 8, would submit
that the petitioner’s application has already been forwarded to the Chief
Electoral Officer, Mylapore.
4. Recording the said submission, this Writ Petition is closed, with
liberty to the petitioner to approach the Chief Electoral Officer, Mylapore, in the
manner known to law.
