                                                             ORDER

The instant writ petition has been filed to direct the respondents to release

the "C" list of the petitioners' batch for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police

(General) for the year 2024-2025, based on the marks secured by the candidates

recruited in 2002-2003 as Grade-II Police Constables at the Police Recruitment

School. This is in accordance with Rule 24(d) of the Tamil Nadu Special Police

Subordinates Service Rules, as held in W.A. No. 732/2022 and confirmed by the

Supreme Court in S.L.P. (C) No. 339/2024 dated January 8, 2024.

2. The learned Senior Counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners

would submit that the petitioners are eligible for promotion as Sub-Inspectors of

Police for the year 2024-2025. However, the respondents are now attempting to

promote only those who were part of the first batch at the time of recruitment.

3. The learned Senior Counsel invites this Court's attention in respect of

the Hon'ble Division Bench's judgment in W.A.No.732 of 2022, which was

confirmed by the Supreme Court in S.L.P. (C) No.339 of 2024, wherein

seniority was ordered to be fixed according to the marks obtained in the Police

Recruitment School.

4. At this juncture, the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing

on behalf of the respondents would fairly submit that they are going to refix the

seniority in accordance with the marks obtained by the individuals in the Police

Recruitment School.

5. In light of the above discussion, the respondents are directed to refix

the seniority in accordance with the marks obtained by the individuals within a

period of twelve (12) weeks from today.

6. With the above directions, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. No

costs. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.

7. Registry is directed list the matter before this Court on 28.08.2025

under the caption “For Reporting Compliance”.
