JUDGMENT

We have heard Mr.M.Muruganantham, learned counsel for the
appellant and Mr.P.Muthukumar, learned State Government Pleader,
assisted by Mrs.R.Anitha, learned Special Government Pleader for
the respondents.
2. The appellant has filed the writ petition seeking a direction
to provide drinking water pipe connection to the appellant's home
under the Athikadavu Drinking Water Scheme.
3. Learned Single Judge considering that there is acute water
shortage held that individual pipeline cannot be given to a particular
home. The actual requirement in the village is 216480 litres per
day, however the actual supply is only 177140 litres per day and, as

such, a common connection is provided to every 10 homes. The
learned Single Judge has also granted liberty to the appellant to
renew his request for getting appropriate water connection if the
third respondent has adequate supply of water through Athikadavu
Drinking Water Scheme or any other scheme.
4. In the light of liberty granted, the appellant may make a
representation to the respondent authority, which the respondent
authority shall consider on its own merits.
The writ appeal is disposed of accordingly. There will be no
order as to costs. Consequently, C.M.P.No.13822 of 2023 is closed.
