08/02.07.2025 It appears that in light of the judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court

in the case of Gurpreet Singh v. Union of India, reported in (2006) 8

SCC 457 and this judgment further considered by the Hon'ble Supreme Court

in the case of V. Kala Bharathi and others v. Oriental Insurance

Company Limited, Branch Chitoor, reported in (2014) 5 SCC 577, the

interest is required to be paid only on the amount when it has not been

deposited along with the principal amount and in view of that ratio, very

meagre amount appears to be there to be paid by the Railways on the point

of interest.

2. In view of that, Mr. Anil Kumar, learned A.S.G.I. will take instruction

with regard to the dispute relating to interest part from the concerned

authority as it is now well-settled in view of the aforesaid two judgments of

the Hon'ble Supreme Court.

3. This Court hopes that the authority concerned will take decision in light

of the ratio laid down by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the aforesaid two

judgments.

4. Let all these C.M.Ps. be placed on 08.07.2025.
