CORAM: Hon'ble Mr. Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Judge

                                 ORDER

Petitioners in this petition claiming to be the legally wedded husband and wife are seeking a direction to respondent Nos. 2 and 3 to protect their life and liberty as they have solemnized their marriage against the wishes of respondent Nos. 4 to 6.

The matter came up for consideration before this Court on 09.03.2021, when this Court while issuing notice to the respondents also provided that respondent Nos. 2 and 3 shall not act in violation of the directions contained in a judgment of the Supreme Court rendered in the case of Lata Singh v. State of UP and another, (2006) 5 SCC 475 and shall ensure that nobody interferes in their married life and adequate security is provided to them, if they approach to the official respondents. The aforesaid directions are in operation since 09.03.2021.

From a perusal of the writ petition and the nature of reliefs claimed, it clearly transpires that what is claimed by the petitioner in this petition, as final relief, has already been granted by this Court by way of interim order dated 09.03.2021 and therefore, there is no point in keeping this petition pending in this Court, more so when the respondents have not objected to the continuance of the interim directions.

In view of the aforesaid, this petition is disposed of by confirming the interim directions dated 09.03.2021 and directing respondent Nos. 2 and 3 to take note of the judgment passed by the Supreme Court in the case of Lata Singh (supra) and ensure that nobody interferes in the married life of the petitioners and also adequate security is provided to them, if they approach for the same before the official respondents.

(Sanjeev Kumar) Judge
