JUDGMENT

1. From the report filed by the Delhi Jal Board it is clear that the water now supplied is potable. However, a question was raised about the presence of bacteria. On behalf of the Delhi Jal Board, a statement is made that the report is ready and the bcteria is within the permissible limits. Therefore, the presence of bacteria would not cause any harm.
2. In view of this, at this juncture, a limited direction is required to be given to the effect that the Corporation as well as the Delhi Jal Board shall periodically continue checking of the water for analysis of water from the health point of view.
3. We are told that as far as Sonia Vihar project is concerned, the plant has not yet been commissioned for supply of potable water. It goes without saying that when the said plant is commissioned and as and when potable water supply is commenced, theorporation as well as the Delhi Jal Board shall take appropriate steps to see that water is potable and there is no harmful content and is safe for the human beings.4. We direct that the Corporation as well as the Delhi Jal Board shall file compliance report after four weeks before the Registrar General to indicate that the water supplied in the areas indicated in the petition and other annexures is potable and fre from bacteria causing harm to the human beings. The writ petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid directions.
