WRIT PETITION Nos.2928, 9747 & 24493 of 2010
COMMON ORDER:
In all these three Writ Petitions, the erection of
statue of public figures and departed leaders on road margins
and other public places has been challenged.
2. The issues raised in these Writ Petitions are now
covered by a Judgment of a Division Bench of this Court
dated 07.12.2022 in W.P.No.4626 of 2010.
3. The Division Bench after taking notice of
G.O.Ms.No.18, Transport, Roads & Buildings (Road-1)
Department, dated 18.02.2013 had directed the State
Government, to follow the guidelines in these directions,
issued by the Government in G.O.Ms.No.18, dated
18.02.2013 while considering any permission for erection of
statues in public places.
4. Following the said Judgment, these Writ Petitions
are disposed of with a direction to the respondents to take a
decision in relation to the erection of statutes in public places
and for their removal if such statues are in public places is
strictly in accordance with the guidelines set out in
G.O.Ms.No.18, Transport, Roads & Building (Road-1)
Department, dated 18.02.2013. There shall be no order as to
cost.
As a sequel, pending miscellaneous petitions, if
any, shall stand closed.
