September 29,2018:
On Friday, Yale University’s Law Schools' Dean called for further investigation against Brett M. Kavanaugh an alumnus who is President Trump’s nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court in into Sexual-Misconduct allegations as per a statement from the School.
The statement followed the dramatic Senate Judiciary Committees' hearing on Thursday in which Christine Blasey Ford and Kavanaugh both testified about her accusation that he sexually assaulted her when they were in High School.
The incident took place some 35 years ago. Kavanaugh is both an Undergraduate and Law-School alumnus of the University.
Heather Gerken, Dean of the Law School has said in his statement,“I join the American Bar Association in calling for an additional investigation into allegations made against Judge Kavanaugh. Proceeding with the confirmation process without further investigation is not in the best interest of the court or our profession.”
In an earlier statement, Gerken avoided saying what she thought of Kavanaugh’s nomination, even as Yale Law School students traveled to Washington, D.C., to demand an inquiry into allegations against him.
She wrote in a statement on Monday,“As Dean, I cannot take a position on the nomination. But I am so proud of the work our community is doing to engage with these issues, and I stand with them in supporting the importance of fair process, the rule of law, and the integrity of the legal system.”
Later on Friday, the Senate Judiciary Committee, on a party-line vote, sent Kavanaugh’s nomination to the full Senate.
Although the overall approval seemed to be contingent on further FBI investigation of the allegations against Kavanaugh, to Judge from comments by Sen. Jeff Flake, an Arizona Republican and a swing vote.
