September 8,2017:
She has claimed that her Husband has to perform 12 hours of standing duty and nobody can remain alert in such a situation for 12 hours.
Fed up with her husband’s long duty hours, wife of a Delhi Police personnel, purportedly posted at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, has written to the Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to ensure “duty in the shifts” so he can take care of his family.
In a letter to Patnaik, she further added that the long duty hours can lead to depression and even suicide.
Thus if her husband takes a drastic step, police will be responsible for it.
Letter is yet to be verified as it was sent via e-mail to Police Chief’s official mail and does not mention officer’s name and rank.
It only mentions that he is posted with Security Unit at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
About 700 police personnel including the four ACPs, one DCP and the joint CP are deployed in security unit of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Soon after receiving the letter, the Police Chief on August 29,2017 had forwarded it to Joint CP and DCP responsible for the security at the Rashtrapati Bhavan to verify her claims and do needful.
According to data compiled and verified by the Police Sources, about 43 Delhi Police personnel all men have committed suicide between January 2012 and July,2017 and this year alone four police personnel have killed themselves.
