On Tuesday, Not wearing a mask will cost you ₹500 in the city. The UT administration issued a notification stating that the violation of not wearing a mask will be punishable by imposing a fine of ₹500 and non-payment will attract proceedings under Section 188 of IPC.
Tehsildars, naib tehsildars, municipal corporation (MC) additional commissioner, MC joint commissioner, medical officer of health of MC, medical officers as designated by director health and family welfare, station house officers of Chandigarh police, and any other officer specifically designated by Chandigarh deputy commissioner time to time will be responsible to implement the directions. Recently, the administration had discussed the Punjab government decision on imposing charges on violating Covid-19 guidelines.
