The Master of Laws (LLM) program at Seattle University School of Law is designed for students who hold a U.S. or foreign law degree (JD or LLB) and are looking to advance their legal careers with specialized knowledge. The LLM can help students qualify for the U.S. bar exam and gain expertise in a global legal environment.
LLM in American Legal Studies – Designed for foreign-trained lawyers, this program provides a comprehensive overview of the U.S. legal system. The 24-credit program includes courses required for bar eligibility, such as legal writing and research, along with electives tailored to individual interests.
LLM in Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship – Focused on the rapidly evolving fields of privacy law, cybersecurity, digital commerce, and financial technology, this program explores how legal doctrines and regulations interact with technological advancements. The 24-credit program allows students to deepen their expertise in technology law, with an option to take additional credits to qualify for the U.S. bar exam.
Seattle University School of Law is home to renowned faculty experts, many of whom have experience in the legal departments of major corporations. Students benefit from the school’s #6 ranked legal writing program (U.S. News & World Report) and have opportunities to gain hands-on experience through externships with legal employers in the Seattle area.
LLM students can gain practical experience and earn academic credit through externships, with placements available at Seattle-area legal employers.
Students also enjoy networking events, panel discussions, and interactive programs with alumni and legal professionals, helping them build valuable career connections.
Seattle University School of Law offers partial-tuition Dean’s Merit Scholarships to LLM applicants—no separate application is required for consideration.
Additionally, the Roundglass Scholarship provides one full-tuition scholarship each year for a student from Punjab, India, made possible through the Roundglass India Center. This award is based on both merit and financial need.
