About Seattle University School of Law

Seattle University, founded in 1891 as a Jesuit institution, is located on a vibrant 50-acre campus in the heart of Seattle. The law school, established in 1972, has spent over 50 years educating a diverse and dynamic community of legal professionals.

Seattle is home to Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, Boeing, and Zillow, offering unparalleled opportunities for law students to engage with cutting-edge legal issues.

LLM Programs at Seattle University School of Law

The Master of Laws (LLM) program at Seattle University School of Law is designed for students who hold a U.S. or foreign law degree (JD or LLB) and are looking to advance their legal careers with specialized knowledge. The LLM can help students qualify for the U.S. bar exam and gain expertise in a global legal environment.

Seattle University School of Law offers two specialized LLM programs:

LLM in American Legal Studies – Designed for foreign-trained lawyers, this program provides a comprehensive overview of the U.S. legal system. The 24-credit program includes courses required for bar eligibility, such as legal writing and research, along with electives tailored to individual interests.

LLM in Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship – Focused on the rapidly evolving fields of privacy law, cybersecurity, digital commerce, and financial technology, this program explores how legal doctrines and regulations interact with technological advancements. The 24-credit program allows students to deepen their expertise in technology law, with an option to take additional credits to qualify for the U.S. bar exam.
