About Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law, PES University was established in the year 2017, under the able guidance of Hon’ble Founder and Chancellor, Dr. M.R Doreswamy, with a vision of establishing a global law school. The program has been innovatively designed to cater to the growing challenges and complexities of the dynamic legal environment.

About the Seminar

The Conference Committee invites law students, academicians, professionals, and research scholars from across the country to submit original, unpublished manuscripts, along with an abstract, for presentation in Séminaire Juridique to contribute to the discourse happening across two days, i.e., 26th and 27th of October, 2023.

Day 1: Decoding the Newfangled Issues in Criminal Law [Sub Themes] 

• An Inquiry into the ethos of lethal injection as a form of punishment
• Legal implications of decriminalizing an attempt to suicide in India
• Position of marital rape and the role of the judiciary in India
• Jurisprudence of feminist criminology in various countries
• Legislation of Cannabis: socio-legal implications

Day 2: The Future of Corporate Law: Exploring New Avenues [Sub Theme:] 

• Impact of AI and technology on the legal environment
• Role of investment and trade law in the public health sector
• Corporate Social Responsibility and Climate Change
• Regulation of investment by PSUs in securities markets
• Rise in investor-state disputes in the digital age vis-a-vis commercial arbitration

Note: The following sub-themes are indicative only; they accept manuscripts on any specific area under the above-mentioned themes.

All submissions for the seminar have to be electronically mailed with the subject as “Submission of Abstract/Paper Title”, as the case may be, and bearing the name(s) of the author(s) as the file names, only at the following addresses: nslaw@pes.edu and conference.pesulaw@gmail.com.

Registration Fees

• Students – ₹1000 per author and ₹1500 for co-authors
• Academicians/Research scholars – ₹2000 per author and ₹1500 for co-authors

Awards

• It is proposed that select manuscripts from the conference proceedings will be published with an ISBN.
• The following awards shall be presented for each Theme:
• 1st Best Paper Presenter – ₹5000 and Certificate of merit
• 2nd Best Paper Presenter – ₹3000 and Certificate of merit
• Certificate of participation shall be awarded to all the registered participants.

• Last date of Registration: September 30, 2023
• Full paper Submission: October 22, 2023
• Inauguration: October 26, 2023
