Received the assent of His Excellency the Governor on the 11th April, 1944, and was first published in the Punjab Government Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 18th April, 1944.

LEGISLATIVE HISTORY 6

An Act to amend the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, in its application to the Punjab.

It is hereby enacted as follows:-

  1. Short title. - This Act may be called the Epidemic Diseases (Punjab Amendment) Act, 1944.
  2. Amendment of section 2 of Act 3 of 1897.- In sub-section (2) of section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, the following sub-sections shall be added, namely:-

"(3) The [State] Government may by general or special order empower a Deputy Commissioner to exerccise in relation to the district all the powers under this section exerciseable by the [State] Government in relation to the [State] other than the power to determine in what manner and by whom any expenses incurred (including compensation, if any) shall be defrayed.

(4) The exercise of powers delegated by the [State] Government shall be subject to such restrictions, limitations and conditions, if any, as may be specified by the [State] Government and to the control of, and to revision by, the [State] Government."
