An Act further to amend the Indian Forest Act, 1927, in its application to the pre-Reorganisation State of Bombay, excluding the transferred territories.
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Indian Forest Act, 1927, in its application to the pre-Reorganisation State of Bombay, excluding the transferred territories, for the purpose hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows :-
- Short title.- This Act may be called the Indian Forest (Bombay Amendment) Act, 1957.

| Statement of Objects and Reasons - Maharashtra Act No. XXVI of 1957. - Under sub-section (2) of section 85 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 in its application to the pre-Reorganisation State of Bombay, excluding the transferred territories, an officer below the rank of a Divisional Forest Officer could not be authorised by the State Government to decide certain questions. It was however, considered necessary that the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer should also be authorised to decide such questions. The Act makes necessary provision. |
- Amendment of section 85 of Act XVI of 1927.- In sub-section (2) of section 85 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927, for the words "Divisional Forest Officer" the words "Sub-Divisional Forest Officer" shall be substituted.
