A regulation to apply certain provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 to the Sadiya, Balipara and Lakhimpur Frontier Tracts.

Preamble. - Whereas it is expedient to apply certain provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 (Act 3 of 1897) to the Sadiya, Balipara and Lakhimpur Frontier Tracts, and whereas by sub-section (2) of Section 92 of the Government of India Act, 1935, the Governor is empowered to make regulations for the peace and good Government of any areas in his Province which is for the time being an excluded area ;

Now, therefore, the Governor of Assam in exercise of the said powers and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, is pleased to make the following Regulation for the said areas which have been declared to be excluded areas by the Government of India (Excluded and Partially Excluded Areas) Order, 1936.

  1. Short title.- (a) This Regulation may be called the Assam Excluded Areas (Epidemic Diseases) Regulation, 1941.

(b) Local extent. - It extends to the District of Tuensang in the Stale of Nagaland.

(c) Commencement. - It shall come into force on such date as the Governor may by Notification in the official Gazette appoint, (vide Annexure placed below).

  1. Sections 2, 3 and 4 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 (Act 3 of 1897) shall apply to the district of Tuensang subject to the following modifications :

(a) Reference to the Governor shall be taken as referring to the Governor of Nagaland, and

(b) The reference to the Province shall be taken as referring to the areas named in clause 1(b).

Notifications

No. 7151-GS. - In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 1(c) of the Assam Excluded Areas (Epidemic Diseases) Regulation, 1941 (Regulation 3 of 1941), His Excellency the Governor is pleased to appoint the 1st November, 1941 as the date on which the said Regulation shall come into force.
