Law Research Institute was established on 5th April 1973, in commemoration of the silver jubilee celebration of the Gauhati High Court. It was inaugurated by Shri H.R Gokhale, the then Union Minister of Law and Justice. The Law Research Institute was registered on 5th July 1977 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.
Online Applications are invited for filling up of 9 (nine) posts of Research Associates on a contractual basis in the establishment of the Law Research Institute, Gauhati High Court, Guwahati for a project entitled ‘Documentation of Customary Laws of the North Eastern Region, India (2023-2026)’ under the aegis of the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India.
The job responsibilities of a Research Associate will be to accomplish field-based Research on the assigned tribe(s) from the states of Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Manipur, and Sikkim. Research work will comprise of interaction with locals/intellectuals/community leaders in the targeted villages to extract the relevant information for the study, organizing community-based workshops, and any other duty assigned as per the need of the project.
Appointments will be purely temporary and for 8 (eight) months, which may be extended as per the need of the project.
Rs. 25,000/per month (consolidated).
