SC declines to stay NGT order for demolition of 5 Resorts on this Hill Station

Bench found that Seven Floors were built against sanctioned Three Foors in collusion with Govt officials.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court refused to stay National Green Tribunal (NGT) order to demolish 5 resorts in Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh for illegal construction & said that "no law has been followed."

This order'll have huge ramifications for the resorts & hotels that're coming up at various tourist destinations in violation of the environmental norms.

A vacation Bench of Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre & Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul said that, “No law has been followed (in the constructio, officials have completely colluded. Give respect to law!”

NGT had on 31st May directed 5 resorts — Bird’s View Resort, Hotel Pine View, Chelsea Resorts, Narayani Guest House, Nilgiri Hotel, Hotel Divsikha and AAA guest house to demolish their unauthorized structures.

The Bench said, “7-storeyed buildings were constructed whereas they're permitted to build only 3 storeys. This shows collusion between govt. officials & hotels. The 4 floors were illegal.”
