A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in Gujarat HC seeking free treatment for those affected or infected by Covid-19.
The court disposed of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) after govt informed the court that it is already providing free treatment to persons infected with the deadly virus. Advocate-activist K R Koshti who filed the PIL said, “I have filed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) raising issue that the govt should be directed to provide all the services of diagnosis, laboratory investigation & further treatment of COVID-19 to those affected or suspected of the said pandemic disease for free.”
He said, “I have also submitted that the private hospitals having facilities of the isolation ward should also be included apart from the govt hospitals for treatment & diagnosis of the persons.” However, after the state govt stated on record that they have been providing free service, the court disposed of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL).
Meanwhile the state health department has filed a reply in response to a Suomotu petition taken by the Gujarat HC last year. The affidavit was filed by the Joint secretary level official has submitted series of actions taken by the state govt following outbreak of the Covid 19.
The affidavit was filed by IM Qureshi, joint secretary of the Health & Family Welfare department submitted that three cases were found positive out of 150 samples sent to the laboratory. The persons who returned from abroad they haven’t self-quantined themselves & trapped in the illness, however, they have been reported in the good condition. As per the govt affidavit, Rajkot based man who returned from Madina had been come with contact of 100 persons & process of put them under quarantine is under way.
While, 9 persons came in contact with a Surat-based girl who returned from London & 18 persons who came with contact of city-based girl came from USA have been quarantined.
